Awards & Recognitions

Ted Brigham was a teacher for 27 years. During that time, he continually reached beyond his position as a teacher to both students and parents with a commitment to build stronger relations between home and school. His commitment to the welfare of children was further demonstrated by his years of service as an active member of the PTA. 

Ted had a strong belief that parental involvement was important in helping his students to succeed and his work as a classroom teacher exemplified that every day.

The Danielle Alduino Scholarship Award is awarded to a graduating public high school senior  who has dedicated themselves to community service. This memorial award is dedicated to the  memory of Danielle Alduino, past Suffolk Region PTA District Director, who believed in giving  back to the community. She spent many years advocating for children by volunteering in her  local PTA, Suffolk Region PTA and the New York State PTA Board of Managers where she  served as a Vice President.

This award is to recognize a teacher who goes above and beyond the regular duties of the classroom to truly make an impact on a school, district or community. An Unsung Teacher of the Year goes beyond interacting with students on an instructional level and works to make sure their physical and emotional needs are met as well.

The award is named to honor the memory of Helen Maloney, who served for many years in a variety of capacities on the Suffolk Region Board of Managers among those as editor of our Dimensions Newsletter. Helen believed in the importance of communication and getting the PTA ‘message’ out to all organizations involved in the education of our children. She fought for the right for PTA to be at the table and involved in all educational decisions.
